Identification, expression analysis and cloning of transporter genes of Porteresia Coarctara
Porteresia coarctata is a salt tolerant wild relative of rice which is growing in estuarine soils. It can be used as an important material for transferring salt tolerant characteristics to rice.The purpose of my study was to try and transfer at least some of the salt tolerance traits of P. coarctata to cultivated rice. The target is to identify ion transporter gene that is used by P. coarctata to exclude ions and see their differential expression under different salt stress and finally clone them in yeast.
